David Nussbaum is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of PORTL, a hologram technology company that lets people beam high resolutions of themselves to multiple locations to interact with other people.  Called telepresence or holoporation, this company is inventing the future of political campaigning, fundraising, and voter engagement.

Talking with guest host Cyrus Krohn, David describes the history of using holograms in politics and professional speaking since the 1860s.  No longer just a magic trick, beaming political candidates is becoming an efficient way to get attention, safely be in more than one place at a time, and give access to those restricted in their time and ability to physically move around.

Known for looking over the horizon in political campaigns, Cyrus asks, what will it take to make this mainstream in politics? Will concerns about wear and tear on candidates, security threats, and COVID-19 drive the accelerated use of this technology?

David says that scanning and saving the living is the future of politics and holograms. Not just for the famous, he also says the next step is using our phone to send miniature versions of ourselves -- where holograms meet Zoom.
